Main Interview
Claytonon has blasted onto the scene in the past year, knocking all competition down the charts on his way to the top. His iconic sound has lead him into the public eye but not without controversy, we have all heard of his rivalry with Daize but we got an exclusive interview with Claytonon about this matter and his new album.
“I tried for years to get my music out there but I never gave in, the music industry is a tough nut to crack but once your there the hard work doesn’t stop”. Sam has been creating demo tack in his bed room since the age of 12 then finally caught a break in a recording studio in his home town, Warrington; they liked his stuff and offered to record it for him professionally. He sent this EP to all the biggest record labels in the biggest but got turned down by all of them except Paw Print Records. This is went he released his first album ‘From the Room I Sleep’, made up mostly of tracks he started in his bedroom back in the day, this album only reached #18 in the Rock Album Charts but got him high enough to be picked up by Hopeless Records.
His second studio album ‘Speaker Personality’ rocked the charts, reaching #1 in the charts knocking Daize off the top spot. This is where the rivalry began, both artists started to release hit after hit, single after single, beat after beat. “It’s an unneeded battle and we are mates but its healthy competition for our careers, keeps us pushing to do better like 2 mates in a gym seeing who can lift the biggest weights *Chuckle* Yeah, like we are both striving to release the next great hit. You win some, you loose some.” Its clear there is a rivalry but no deeper feelings than the battle in the charts. “I’m struggling to keep up with Daize but I’m determined to beat him, I’ve started work on my new album so he is starting to pull ahead in the charts but, I’ll be back” We asked him about what the future has in store, “I’ve got my new album nearly ready for launch, and I’ve got some collaborations in the pipelines, hopefully, maybe, possibly even some stuff with Daize. We’ve wanted to work together for ages and with us both under the same label now it just might happen” This shock announcement could lead to some of the best hits we’ve heard in our life times.
Emerald Isles! Section
We asked Emerald Isles for their personal opinion on both Claytonon and Daize, they have collaborated with both artists so who better can compare them “We loved working with both acts and they work in very different way so it’s hard to say who we proffered working with. Err, they’re both great acts and they have their own personal styles, yeah we love them both and wish them the best of luck with their careers, except when we release a single or album. *laughter*”
